Leaving the West Coast : Not sure where to go next, and unable to fly to Tofinao due to poor weather and a broken toe, I decide to pay another visit to Brad in Vancouver before heading back east.

Rossland, BC : From the arid Okanagan valley I flew east to Trail to visit friends in the nearby small town of Rossland, part of the Kootenay Valley. Rossland has a big mountain biking scene and also draws the snowboarding/skiing crowd with their snowy winters. But, a hundred years ago people weren't moving here for the sports, they came in the hundreds to mine for Gold! The mine has since shut down and turned into a tourist attraction but the downtown streets still show signs that the town was once a thriving goldrush community.

Cranbrook, BC : As fortune would have it, Scott and Shannon were visiting relatives in Cranbrook at the same time that I was passing through. We had a great time with the Toyotas in Cranbrook, spent a day in Creston, and even went cliff jumping at Silver Springs. Next I flew to Invermere where Bill took me for a glider flight and then I continued in my Coupe through the rest of the mountains all the way home to Ponoka.

Over the Prairies : I traded the narrow valleys and snow covered rocky mountain peaks of BC for wide open plains, snaking river valleys and colorful canola and wheat fields of the prairies. From Calgary to Manitoulin in 3 days.

Northern Ontario Trap Line Run : Like Vi and Clare did before me many a time, I took off from the Gore Bay airport bound for a string of Northern Ontario communities where eye care was not available. They set up their equipment and did eye exams and then moved on to the next village. I decided to retrace their 'trap line' in an attempt to relive some family aviation history.

Ottawa, Montreal, St Stephen : A collection of photos from brief pit stops in Ottawa and Montreal and then it was off to Sherbrooke, QC for fuel and across the state of Main to land in St. Stephen, NB. The next day I zipped over to Havelock, NB where there was a small fly-in at a grass strip airport near Moncton. I slept the night in an old bunk house on the field before heading across the Bay of Funday to Nova Scotia.

Ponoka, AB - Flying Home! : The final flight of the journey, from Shaunavon, SK to Ponoka, AB was one of the longest flights at 3.5hrs. It was also one of the most nerve racking as I experienced a complete electrical failure over an hour away from Ponoka. I still managed to make it to the Ponoka airport, literally just in time for Thanksgiving dinner, and I was indeed truly thankful!
